on firms, supervisors, and registered representatives.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.fincen.gov/hr3162.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;Section 352 of the USA PATRIOT ACT&lt;/a&gt; amended the &lt;a href="http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode31/usc_sup_01_31_08_IV_10_53_20_II.html" target="_blank"&gt;BSA&lt;/a&gt; to require financial institutions to establish an AML program, report suspicious activity, verify the identity of customers and apply due diligence in all matters especially to accounts involving foreign persons.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Broker-dealers can meet this requirement by maintaining an AML compliance program that complies with SRO rule requirements. &lt;a href="http://www.finra.org/RulesRegulation/RuleFilings/2005RuleFilings/p014237" target="_blank"&gt;NASD Rule 3011&lt;/a&gt; Firms that file a very large volume of communications (typically around 500 per year or more) may wish to consider using the new Batch Submission process.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Effective October 29, 2007, firms will be required to provide further regulatory data about each AREF submission.  This new data will help the Department prioritize firm submissions. During Settlement Month members mediating cases will receive significantly reduced rates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mediation is a voluntary, non-binding dispute resolution process in which a trained, impartial individual helps parties negotiate and reach a settlement acceptable to all parties to the dispute. Once the parties reach an agreement through mediation, they sign a mutually agreeable settlement agreement. In contrast, when a dispute is submitted to arbitration, the decision of the arbitrator or arbitration panel is binding on all parties regardless of whether the parties agree with the decision.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;FINRA has 73 hearing locations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and London. Rule 1160 eliminates any unnecessary burden that firms may incur in conducting quarterly reviews of the contact information.
